It is the execution of a search based on probable cause. How the case proceeds will test whether that standard holds when the last name is politically prominent.
Accountability that stops at the water’s edge of a congressional family is not accountability. Citizens who live under the same statutes have the right to expect even-handed application. If the evidence supports charges, they should move forward without delay or special consideration. The alternative is a two-tier system that the public has already rejected.
